HADA LABO – Blemish & oil control lotion

I was strolling around at Watson’s (as usual) looking for some new makeup (as always), at the counter the lady asked if I wanted to take any of the products which are on sale. Thats when I say this HADA LABO lotion, I read lotion and bonus it was Japanese, I instantly picked up. But guys, Japanese and Korean products never ever leave a first shocking impression.

You read lotion, you instantly think cream or gel, that you would take on your fingers or palm to apply. But this lotion is liquid, yes you read it right, it is liquid. Read on to know my full review

Full ingredient list: Water, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Squalane, Triethylhexanoin, Methylparaben, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Tranexamic Acid, Disodium EDTA, Menthol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Camphor, Coix Lacryma-Jobi Ma-Yuen Seed Extract, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract.

The first ingredient is water which comes as no surprise, as it is completely liquid. However, I am not very pleased, looking at the rest of the ingredients. The third ingredient is alcohol. Then there is EDTA, Sorbitan Sesquioleate and Methylparaben. Will make you a little hesitant if you prefer all natural.

Triethylhexanoin is the newest ingredient in skincare used as an astingent, targets discolouration and has proven to brighten the skin.

However Castor oil, Butylene glycol (powerful moisturizing agent), camphor (Soothes Skin Rashes, irritation), extracts, dipotassium glycyrrhizate (which is the licorce root extract, which improve the appearance of dry/damaged skin by reducing flaking and restoring suppleness, and also functions as an anti-irritant with anti-inflammatory and skin soothing capabilities)  Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract (soothes skin sensitivity & increases moisture content) Butylene Glycol and sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid for moisture) are all really good ingredients.

It retails for SGD 22.90 for 170 ml product.

The Product is watery, has a strong alcohol fragrance. It is best used by taking in the palm or cotton pad and patting it on the face.

After usage I realised the word lotion is misleading here, because it really is a toner. This is most suited for people going through breakouts and scarring because of that. The ingredients are all to soothe the skin, calm the acnes and clear the skin to unclog pores.

I would give this product 3/5, simply because of the strong alcohol content. If you have acne it could prove useful.

I did try it when I broke out, it helps soothe the skin. Will I buy it again? probably not.
